In a universe of vast supply, the world’s vital resources are nearly depleted, and its population faces critical mass and likely extinction. Strife and provincial conflict have overtaken almost every aspect of existence: regional economic disasters flourish, currency meltdowns cascade like dominoes, and skyrocketing unemployment and loan defaults have plunged the dawn of the 4th millennium into deeper anarchy. China teeters on the edge of chaos after numerous failed coup attempts, farmers in the Soviet Union have shaken their government with a general strike, and the United States is paralyzed by a moribund economy while much of the world contends with fervent, religious guerrilla fanaticism.

Religious figureheads, sanctioned by the strict codes of the U.N., flood the airwaves with distressing, apocalyptic predictions through bullying, austere, and dramatic presentations, paired with carefully crafted, incendiary messaging. Disseminating fear to the public, they then offer self-serving solutions in return.
